What Is “Sit Stay Live Here”?

A searchable apartment directory consisting exclusively of dog friendly apartment communities and offering advanced search filters for dog limitations such as breed and weight so you can find “your dog” friendly community options with one search.

Why Is It Important?

Housing is listed as the number one reason for owner surrenders, and it is time consuming and stressful trying to weed through dog friendly options to find apartments that will accept your specific dogs. Our goal is to help decrease the number of owner surrenders by providing more visibility to solutions for different budgets.

What Do We Do?

We set aside 10% of all apartment listing fees to a fund that lets us sponsor adult local shelter dogs. Sponsoring means we allocate up to $1,000 per dog for specific expenses that will help the dogs health and well-being or increase the likelihood of the adoption succeeding long term.

Why Is That Important?

Shelters are full, rescues are overwhelmed, and organizations are underfunded. Adult dogs often take longer to get adopted so we use up to $1,000 for expenses such as spaying / neutering, microchipping, vaccines, flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, pet rent, pet fees, pet deposits, dog daycare, training, or even pet insurance. This flexible formula means we can work closely with the rescue or shelter to identify what will best help the adoption succeed and will contribute most to the dogs overall health and wellbeing.

What Do We NOT Do?

We do not have an in-house sales team to sell listings to apartment communities.

Why Don’t We?

The directory is an easy sell and requires more “word of mouth” than salesman tactics. By not having a single paid position for sales we can free up funding to donate to rescues and put into the pockets of everyday people. Communities join the directory through referrals and we pay $100 to the person who made the referral and $100 to the donation fund.

  • Standard and Premium listings can update information quarterly.

  • Absolutely. In fact, we are hoping that as we grow, we are able to add programs to help current dog owners in addition to just shelter dogs.

  • We are not. We are what’s known as a “profit with purpose” or a “social impact” company. We offer a quality product and use income to support meaningful causes to avoid the uncertainty of relying on donations.
